Why You Are Choosing This Path Now— Because Your Future Self Is Already Guiding You The Heroine’s Journey — A Path Everyone Walks to Live Authentically

Maureen Murdock’s

The Heroine’s Journey: Woman’s Quest for Wholeness describes a profound shift—from living for external approval to remembering who we truly are, trusting our inherent worth, and choosing a life aligned with our inner truth.

This journey is not only for women.

As our world moves from competition toward harmony and integration, the Heroine’s Journey becomes a guide for many people.

The Wisdom That Appears in Solitude — The Great Mother

The Heroine’s Journey is inward and often lonely.

And the period when we cannot yet accept that loneliness can feel especially painful.

  • Not knowing what we’re searching for

  • Not seeing the path ahead

  • Wanting to change

  • Wanting to live with more joy and truth

So the heroine withdraws, turning quietly toward her inner world.

And yet, to heal the feminine, to move through the mother–daughter wound, and to restore the masculine, we need people.

  • Someone who has walked the journey before

  • Someone who carries the wisdom of the Great Mother

  • Someone who walks beside us as a companion

When the heroine decides, “I want to deepen this journey, the path out of the darkness begins to appear.

And the people she needs start showing up.

The Moment You Realise Your Future Self Is Calling You

The final stage of the Heroine’s Journey is moving beyond duality.

It is the shift from seeing feminine and masculine as separate to recognizing them as one integrated whole.

This is a remembering.

It is also an awakening.

When the heroine reaches the place where:

  • She knows she already has everything she needs

  • She feels connected to her true self

  • She senses her future self guiding her

She completes one spiral of the journey and begins rising into the next.

Elizabeth Gilbert describes this beautifully in the final chapter of Eat, Pray, Love. The Future Tree That Calls the Acorn

Elizabeth’s insight is rooted in Zen philosophy: the idea that two forces work simultaneously to bring an oak tree into the world.

  • The acorn (your present self)

  • The future oak (your fully realised self)

The future oak longs to exist.

Its desire pulls the acorn forward, guiding its growth from the unseen.

When I first read this at age 24, I didn’t fully understand it.

But now, after walking the Heroine’s Journey with my companions, I understand deeply.

Because I felt it.

A wordless certainty.

A knowing that if I walked this path, I would become who I long to be.

No logic.

Just truth.

And it unfolded exactly that way.

Feeling Connected to Your True Self — and Your Future Self

As a life coach, I support women in reconnecting with their true selves—their inner axis, their unshakable centre.

Because shifting from a life built on external approval to a life built on inner truth

requires that connection.

And now I see another layer: We are also connected to our future selves.

The version of us who already exists, already whole, already living the life we desire.

When we stay connected, we are guided.

This is also the essence of the Law of Attraction.

I continue healing my inner child, releasing old conflicts, and strengthening this connection.

My certainty grows.

My ability to create and manifest grows.

And because of that, I can support others walking the same path.

Honouring the Feeling That Says “This Might Be It”

Growth is a spiral.

We rise, step by step, by staying humble and honest with ourselves.

I believe deeply that when I live my joy and my truth, others rise with me.

So come meet me.

The moment you decide to change, you begin connecting with your future self.

You don’t have to believe it yet.

My role is to help you believe—to help you hear the voice of the future you

who is already calling. Also, I believe that you reconnect with yourself and shift your life from the very begining our coaching journey.

That “this feels right” sensation is not random.

It is guidance.
